About the geekgirl...

The name is Christel, I am in the second half of my twenties. I'm a registered nurse working in the south-west of England, however, these days I rarely do nursing. I am the Managing Director of a small, exciting company. I'm also a part-time student studying towards a MSc in Forensic Psychology. People refer to me as trouble.

My religious affiliation is Jedi. I vote LibDem and listens to all types of music; classical, metal, punk, trance/house, rock, pop, even country! I don't watch TV much, but there's a few shows that I do enjoy such as Dr Who, Spaced, Black Books, House MD, Futurama, Invader Zim, The Simpsons and League of Gentlemen. I am a fluffy feminist. I belly dance, snowboard, paintball and do pilates. I believe pain is quite OK, in moderation. I am opinionated. I am addicted to strong, bitter black coffee. I'm fairly involved with Free and Open Source Software; working on exciting projects such as Irssi, Gentoo and ReactOS.

I serve on the board of directors for the 501(c)3 Not for profit organisation PDPC (Peer-Directed Projects Center), which owns and operates the freenode IRC network. We are also in the process of organising the most amazing community focused FOSS conference to take place on earth, FOSSCON.

I used to be a Safe Space Maintainer for VP; a body positive community for women boasting over 12+K members at last headcount, although I no longer am actively involved with VP, I give my full support for the project and hope that when time allows I may be able to get involved again. I also sit on the board of directors for the Not for profit organisation Sexipedia whos aim is to provide no-nonsense sexual health education.

I have a massive crush on Patrick Stewart aka Captain Jean-Luc Picard (he makes me want to let him insert it). I am passionate about many things, books, computers, technology, the internet, FOSS, friends, sunflowers, burning candles, music, cooking and baking, clay pigeon shooting, fishing. I'm particulary interested in retro computing. I am a shameless flirt. I used to sell sex toys for a living,

I am a geek. I have the BSD daemon tattooed on my spine. I struggle to pronounce words starting with the letter 'v' and so my friends will torture me by making me repeatedly say things like 'nuclear vessels' or 'vaseline is very versatile'. When I was a little girl I wanted to grow up to become a russian spy. I talk too much. I am afraid of spiders and the idea of having children. I loathe the texture of peas. I find cookies dipped in coffee a little bit magical. I love the smell of vanilla. I like honesty and bluntness. I have never broken a bone. I brush my teeth using colgate toothpaste - the sparkly one- for children. My eyes are green and I stand 5'10" tall. I like challenges.

My dream date would take me out for a day watching F1. I get mad crushes. I am terrified of commitment. The smell of Fahrenheit on a man makes me terribly excited. I contradict myself. I agree, but I disagree. I want too much. I like to recieve letters, I don't like writing them. I write them anyway. I am impatient. I am vain. I am scared of choices. I am curious. I am impulsve, easily confused, complex and occasionally cute.

I like people to know me, I like people to not know me more. Everything you want to learn can be found here, you just need to look at the pictures and read between some very specific lines. I believe a room full of strangers is a room full of potential friends.
